Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: ssw Wind Stength: 10/18 Surf / Sea State: flat Air Temperature: 7 Sea Temperature: 11.5 Weather: cloudy, drizzle and cold :( Max Speed: 23.59 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 15.01 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Can't believe I went really - raining and cold and am not keen on sailing
in the rain in the milder times !!! I couldn't face a shortboard session on
Felixstowe seafront so went out on the longboard at Levington again. It
seemed quite breezy when I rigged and launched from the Marina entrance at
nearly high water.Sadly the wind was too light for planing so headed up
river on a beat and made it to the Orwell Bridge in one tack, just over 5
miles !!! I was not the only one out in the cold drizzle as there was
racing at both Levington and Woolverstone and I even waved at the air/sea
rescue helicopter as it flow over :) So after sailing under the huge bridge
which never fails to get the heart racing headed back to Levington and the
wind seemed to have swing more south making it a beat back too !!!! I was
please to get back to my van as my hands were frozen :( Diesel heater one
and snacks by which time there was a little more breeze so I headed out to
try and break 20 kts - not much of a target I know but wind light and very
gusty.I just managed a 23 max and a 20 ave and discovered ssw not a good
direction for Levington.I didn't miss much at The Dip my mate Steve C the
only windsurfer out with 7 kiters even if he had abit more wind, it was no
warmer :(
